What just happened ?! Nikos Kourkoulis performs at St George College!

Nikos Kourkoulis visits our College!

Our children received a special treat yesterday – a live performance from singer Nikos Kourkoulis!
Nikos has visited South Australia especially to put on performances at the Glendi Greek Festival this weekend (check out the program here).

Nikos Kourkoulis was kind enough to visit St George College in the early afternoon yesterday.

He put on a breath taking performance for our students!

In the audience was our Very Reverend Father Patsouris, Presvytera Anna Patsouris, Andreas Gouras (Consul General of Greece in Adelaide and Dean of the Consular Corps of SA) and Gina Kadis (Principal of St George College).

Left to Right: Foti Drakopoulos (Treasurer of the St George Community), Presvytera Anna Patsouris, Andreas Gouras (Consul General of Greece in Adelaide & Dean of the Consular Corps of SA), Nikos Kourkoulis, Very Reverend Father Patsouris, Stephanie Kosmetos (Head of School at St George College).

The surprise performance stunned both students and staff – it was the perfect end to a hard week of studying!

Nikos gave an inspiring introduction to our children by speaking of his origins, his own dreams and the importance of having passion in everything that we do.

Nikos Kourkoulis, Νίκος Κουρκούλης, was born in Kavala, a city in Northern Greece. Nikos was fortunate as he was born to a family passionate about music and so he began singing when he was just 13 years old.

Nikos also learned to play the bouzouki, guitar and bass. At 16 years old, he started to sing at clubs and a few years later he was performing with many well known Greek singers. He released his first album in 1997.

Some of our staff are even claiming that they will never again wash the body area where they were touched by Nikos!

As soon as he entered the room, Nikos’ natural energy commanded attention and his presence had a powerful effect on our children. His warm and caring personality shone through and his fun loving and joyous spirit was extremely infectious. It wasn’t long before Nikos had captured the attention of every child in the room and the atmosphere became electric!

After the performance, Nikos was so generous as to provide every single child with their own personal autographed photo!

This momentous and unique performance will go down in the College’s history pages as having provided our cherished children (and staff) with some very fond memories.

We wish you all the best with your performances at the Glendi Greek Festival, Nikos Kourkoulis!

Come back and visit your biggest fans here at St George College as soon as possible!
